  7. Indiana: The defending champs have found their next quarterback in Hoover.

  8. Georgia: The Bulldogs looked as tough and imposing as ever.

  9. Alabama: That Keelon Russell thing looks like it's going to work out just fine.

  10. Texas Tech: Still not sold on their quarterback situation, but the Red Raiders rolled.

  11. Oregon: They still haven't figured out that it takes more than dressing well.

  12. Ole Miss: Who said they couldn't do it without Lane on their side?

  13. USC: The Garry Patterson Effect is already in full effect.

  14. Texas A&M: As much talent as any team in the nation, but can they put it all together?

  15. BYU: They won't be tested until October 17 when Notre Dame comes to town.

  16. Michigan: A win is a win ... even if there's an asterisk beside the W.

  17. SMU: The Ponies haven't touched the field yet, but the kids from Dallas are stacked.

  18. Houston: Challenged early but finished strong at home against Oregon State.

  19. Tennessee: That Faizon Brandon thing looks like it's going to work out just fine.

  20. Kansas State: Klein leads his alma mater to 71 in his debut.

  21. Penn State: Campbell and the 24 kids he brought over from Iowa State looked like they're for real.

  22. Iowa: Iowa put up 40 points ... when was the last time you heard 40 points and Iowa in the same sentence?

  23. Washington: Tough battle in Seattle against their archrivals, but the Huskies prevailed.

  24. Virginia Tech: The best entry in sports finally has a team worthy of that entry. Thank you. Coach Franklin.

  25. Virginia: Still basking in the glory of that NC State win, could be 6-0 and ranked much higher when they visit Dallas in October.
