Top 11 Things
Pribula, Quentin, Ty, Fernando ... and 7 Other Things.
Beginning to think Shedeur Sanders may be better than Cam Ward. Sure, Cam is starting in TENN, but he has yet to show me anything that warrants his being taken #1 in the 2025 Draft. On the other hand, Sanders is making deep throws and embracing the challenge ... not his fault the guy in front of him has a contract that forces the coaching staff to play him.
In other quarterback news Ty Simpson is miles ahead of Fernando Mendoza. To be perfectly honest I was never sold on Mendoza and I think the Raiders got caught up in the hype. Time will tell, but for my money, I think LAR got the best quarterback in the draft while LV is still believing the hype.
The best transfer pickup of 2026 might be Beau Pribula by Virginia. He's big, mobile, and mature ... just what the Cavaliers need to get their offense going. In that wide-open ACC, his presence might land Virginia back in the championship game for the second year in a row.
I was ready to give Drew Allar the 2027 starting QB job up in PITT ... that is until I saw Will Howard throw 2 TDs last night against BUFF. The INT was troubling but overall, he showed a strong command of the offense to the point where I'm ready to call that 2027 PITT QB race a tossup.
Word is Arch may stay at Texas another year depending upon who gets the first few picks in next year's NFL draft and I can't blame him. I mean after all, with all that NIL loot he's making and the earning power of the Manning name, if I were him, I'd stick around another year in Austin too.
I really thought in the face of the Cam Ward struggles that Will Levis would have a future in TENN, but word is, he might be on his way out the door provided the Titans coaching staff only carries two QBs on the roster.
OU v. ND ... that sounds like a damn good national title game. I'm not sure if it will happen, but I am sure both of those teams will be in the CFP come late December, early January.
Week 8-13 for Texas A&M is simply brutal. They face Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, OU ... and end it with what I think might be the best team in the nation ... their archrival Texas. If the Aggies can come through that one looking and smelling good ... something tells me they'll end that stretch 2-3, but I'm hopeful.
If this is the end for OBJ and to be clear, he's definitely on the bubble in NYG, I can't help but believe we were robbed. He was an amazing talent who never quite reached the heights he teased us with ... at least from where I'm standing.
Every single time I see Cam Skattebo I can't help but think Peyton Hillis ... only Peyton was a little bigger ... that ought to tell you how much football life I think Cam has in him.
It's only preseason but Mike McDaniel already has Justin Herbert and that LAC offense looking, feeling, and moving like a piece of action ... and Quentin Johnson, the first round pick out of TCU in 2023 is finally starting to play like a first-round pick ... we can chalk that one up to McDaniel too.
