The Whisperer Remembers ... Frank Blevins.

He Made Offenses Tremble

The Whisperer Remembers ... Frank Blevins.

What do Brian Bosworth, Dante Jones, Kevin Murphy, Darrell Reed, and Paul Migliazzo have in common?  All of these men were exceptional linebackers and all of them did some of their best work in Norman, Oklahoma while playing for OU.  They dominated the now defunct Big 8 with a mastery of their craft that saw many a runner and receiver lose breakfast or lunch and sometimes both before taking the field.

Things didn’t get any easier for those runners and receivers with the arrival of this man, hellbent on carrying on the rich, proud defensive tradition of Boomer.  He was rangy with a firm foundation; smart with an extremely angry disposition, fast enough to man either sideline and tough enough to stuff anyone bold (or foolish) enough to try him.  A nightmare walking is what he was but to his beloved Sooner Nation, let me tell you, this guy right here was nothing short of a dream come true.

This field was his office, and he managed it extremely well, leaving offensive bodies in his wake, building his legend while furthering Sooner defensive lore. Ankles and wrists taped, smoke coming out of his mouth and ears on a cold November day, it didn’t get any better than that or him and for that reason, we stand proud and salute. Whisperer Nation, strap the helmet on for old time's sake as we remember one of the best to ever do it…former OU Sooners seek and destroy specialist…Mr. Frank Blevins.
