COLLEGE
The Whisperer Remembers ... Louis Riddick.
Stayed Ready so he Never had to Get Ready
Before the internet became a thing, in order learn about players, you really had to roll up your sleeves and dig. You had to read the papers, spend countless hours poring over magazines, and any other shred of information you could get your hands on. It was hard work, but hard work, is good work, and hard work is what this man did … and he did it good.
Back then, every single time I picked up a paper, read a magazine or a shred of information, he was mentioned as one of if not the top player in the nation. He was big, fast, and tough…but more than anything, he was an incredible student. Legend has it that he never missed a day of school…from kindergarten all the way through college, whenever the bell rand and the doors opened, he was right there at the front of the class ready to give it all he had.
When high school ended, every team in the nation offered but he chose Pitt and for four years he roamed that secondary, cementing their back four while making a name for himself through thunderous hits on runners, receivers, and anything else that crossed his path. Whisperer Nation, in honor of him, let’s be responsible today…just like he was when it came to class. Yes, let’s be responsible, and clap in unison as we celebrate the greatness of former Pitt Panther safety…Mr. Louis Riddick.

One voice. No filler. The names stay off the masthead — the work doesn't need them.
