COLLEGE
The Whisperer Remembers ... Michael Bishop.
The Arm of a Lifetime
He had a cannon for an arm, quick feet and boy; he could talk trash with the best of them…and back it up too. Coming out of Willis, Texas he was heavily recruited as a wide receiver and safety despite that cannon for an arm. Good Lord did this man have an arm with some saying his was one of the strongest to ever grace a college field … but he was never viewed as a traditional passer, so traditional schools passed on him.
As a result, he was forced to go the JUCO route and when the time came for him to choose where he would spend the next two years the big names that ignored him out of high school came calling. Yes, they came calling, but he returned the favor, doing the very thing they did to him, he looked elsewhere. He looked elsewhere and when he did, he found the open arms of Bill Snyder in Manhattan … Kansas that is.
Yes, he chose Kansas State and the Little Apple as the city came to be known, has never been the same. His thunderous arms and ability to take off and score from any position on the field essentially put the Wildcats program back on the map and we will forever be grateful for his work. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let’s all rise to our feet, take a moment, and ponder the incredible talent of former Kansas State Wildcat…Michael Bishop.
The Football Whisperer
One voice. No filler. The names stay off the masthead — the work doesn't need them.
