The Whisperer Remembers ... Ted Brown.
Ruler of the Frozen Tundra
Coming out of North Carolina State, this man caught the attention of scouts all over the league with his unique blend of blocking ability, speed, toughness, and elite pass catching skills. A gifted runner who could run through or around … pick your poison, his only crime was playing in an era that featured guys named Payton, Dorsett, and Bell. Overshadowed by the bigger names, but he always showed up for the big games, he ruled the frozen tundra and ran roughshod over foes, near and far.
There was no such thing as global warming back then, so his games were played up north, in places like Green Bay, Chicago, and his home field of Minnesota. Yeah, his work was done on the real frozen tundra, not inside the comfy confines of this arena or that one. He carried a lunch pail to work and when he arrived, the man truly went to work, getting his hands dirty, breaking a sweat, gushing with blood, sweat, and tears and when the final whistle blew, he had nothing left to give.
His star shined bright, but his teams were never talented enough to make deep runs in the playoffs … the kind of runs that transcend and give players the platform they need to do the same, but in our hearts, he’ll always shine bright, on the biggest stage, the biggest platform. Whisperer Nation, rise to your feet and give a rousing cheer to the man who always raised his hand when the tough yards were needed … former Minnesota Vikings running back … Mr. Ted Brown.

One voice. No filler. The names stay off the masthead — the work doesn't need them.
