Football Whisperer's NFC East Preview
Business as Usual.
Dallas
The Talk: Is this the Cowboys team we’ve been waiting for?
The Whisper: Last year, Dallas had an offense capable of competing for a world championship, supported by a defense incapable of stealing possessions or shortening games. Enter defensive wunderkind Chrisitan Parker, the new Cowboys defensive coordinator. Parker won’t be asked to build stars: no, his mission (the one he chose to accept!) means cashing in on opportunities that result in game-changing plays. If he accomplishes this, Dallas will win the NFC East and stand as one of the most dangerous teams in the league when the playoffs arrive in January.
Last Word: A championship window is open. Hey Dallas, it won’t stay open forever.
Philadelphia
The Talk: Do the Eagles have enough left to straighten up and fly right?
The Whisper: The most sacred family rule is that you never share family business. Doing so can have lasting, often irreparable impacts. This past offseason, Philly broke that most sacred rule, with infighting throughout the organization. Going into 2026, the Eagle locker room is fragile and how well they’re able to remove the outside and rebuild the inside will determine how high they fly in 2026.
Last Word: Not ready to write this team off … even if they already have.
New York
The Talk: Can John Harbaugh make it in New York?
The Whisper: The song says, “if I can make it there, I’m gonna make it anywhere, it’s up to you New York, New York.” For 18 years John Harbaugh made it in Baltimore. This year he arrives in Gotham, and it’ll be up to him to get this Giants team led by new and aging stars, turned around and moving in the right direction.
Last Word: Changing coaches is a lot easier than changing cultures.
Washington
The Talk: Will the Commanders ruin their future by repeating their past?
The Whisper: Once upon a time, the Commanders had a generational talent at quarterback. He was amazing and kinda looked like a piece of action moving down the field when he took off. They built an offense around him taking off and then one day, injuries caught up with RGIII and ended what might’ve been a brilliant career. The Commanders have a similar talent in Jayden Daniels. Thus far, they’ve allowed him to take off, but until they build an offense around him, the Commanders never will.
Last Word: They know how to flash. They also know how to flame out.
