Higgins, Texans D, the NO injury bug ... and 8 Other Things.

Jayden Higgins is a player the Texans couldn't afford to do, but they got the unfortunate news that a torn ACL will put him on the shelf for the season. That's more pressure on CJ ... as if he wasn't already feeling the heat.

The loss of Higgins also means that HOU defense will be asked to step up and carry even more of a load. With Anderson, Stingley, and Azeez on that side of the ball, I doubt we hear any complaints.

The Big Ten is going to be a gauntlet this year and no team is safe from the loss column. While Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State are the prohibitive favorites, I wouldn't be surprised if Penn State is the one standing tall, holding the trophy at season's end ... I also wouldn't be surprised to see whoever holds the trophy with one loss.

Earlier this week it was rookie Jordyn Tyson going down with an injury, now we're hearing veteran running back Alvin Kamara could be on the shelf for a few months. What once looked like a formidable offense in NO is falling apart.

The more I see them on film, the more I'm beginning to believe this DALL defense is going to be a force. With new faces at every level and a new DC leading the way, might this be the year the 'Boys return to the big one? A lot of talent in that Cowboy camp which means some tough decisions loom.

Still no word on who has the upper hand in that Alabama quarterback showdown, but I'm sure whoever falls, be it Austin Mack or Keelon Russell, whoever it is will hit the transfer portal and have a ton of suitors.

The saddest thing about NYJ and CLE is that they actually have good football teams ... they just don't have good quarterbacks to lead them.

Must be something in the water in SEA, because that defense looks eerily similar to the Legion of Boom that dominated the league for the better part of five years. They're big, fast, and just outright mean.

Mestemaker, the transfer from North Texas who followed his coach to Stillwater to suit up for Oklahoma State is the real deal and he could be just the thing that Cowboy program needs to get them moving in the right direction.

Every single time someone mentions Trinidad Chambliss and his pro prospects the fact that he stands only 5'11 enters the conversation. They say he's too short to be drafted and play with the big boys ... guessing they forgot Kyler Murray is only 5'9 and he was the #1 overall pick in 2019. Go figure.

NE visited PHI for a joint practice and with the Eagles missing starting WR's Makai Lemon and DeVonta Smith, I'm sure AJ Brown looked pretty tasty ...
