Baker, Bryce, TCU, the U, Nebraska, ... and 6 Other Things.
  1. Dak has his best year as a Cowboy with weapons on all levels and a defense capable of getting him a few more possessions per game. He's not getting any younger and I think this is far and away his best chance to make it to the big one.

  2. DeShaun Watson will make an impact this year, but it won't be in Cleveland. The Tiger still has some good football left in him. I just can't see the Browns settling for him, knowing full well he's not in their future plans.

  3. Those Tennessee Volunteers will surprise a lot of people this year as the SEC continues to recalibrate. They're deep, tough, and talented and if they can get that RS Freshman QB George MacIntyre some time to develop, the Vols could be going places.

  4. College football was a lot more fun when Nebraska, Florida, and Florida State were all good. I think of the three Nebraska has the shorter path back to relevance, the others, not so sure if or win their time will come again.

  5. TCU really missed a window by not capitalizing on that national title game appearance a few years back. Granted they're not Texas or Texas A&M but you'll never convince me that the Horned Frogs couldn't have done a little more to build off of that experience.

  6. The U will lose the conference title, but they'll still be very much in contention for the coveted national title. They've got that type of talent on that roster and winning the conference is no longer a requirement for getting into the CFP. When the dust settles, they might not have the conference crown, but they'll still be playing in January.

  7. Indiana will be good again this year ... just not as good as they were last year, at least not early. I honestly like Josh Hoover more than Mendoza and while I think the Hoosiers will get off to a slow, but unbeaten start, I still see them having a word in who wins it all.

  8. Texas Tech is kicking themselves for not being able to land a quality quarterback ... of all the times to have an empty signal-caller cupboard.

  9. Arizona is a failed NFL franchise. No matter how you slice it, the Cardinals just can't seem to get it right. I do think they had a solid draft, but it seems like with the exception of Larry Fitzgerald, most young players go there to audition for the second contract ... and sign it somewhere other than Arizona.

  10. In a contract year, Bryce Young plays very big in Carolina and proves he's the key to their future. I love his resilience and the way he bounced back after a rough start, and I think it pays off in the form of a massive new deal going into next year.

  11. Baker Mayfield has been lighting it up since landing in Tampa Bay and he could be the Offensive Player of the Year.
