Top 11 Things
CJ Stroud, Oregon State ... and 9 Other Things.
CJ Stroud in Houston is not a given anymore with the way he played last year in the playoffs, but I'm really hoping the kid bounces back. Either way, we'll see what kind of stuff he's made of ... on another note, that defense is awesome.
I'm not sold on this being the last year for Matthew Stafford, but I am sold on this being the last year for Aaron Rodgers. Stafford still has one of if not the best arm in the game while Rodgers on the other hand, is still serviceable, but he appears to be at peace with his career.
Pulling for Aaron Glenn up there in New York as he enters his second season with the team that drafted him 12th overall back in 1994. His seat is warm, but he's put together some really nice young talent on offense.
Vanderbilt had a nice run here of late and honestly, I'm not so certain they're ready to become the SEC doormat again anytime soon, especially since they've had a taste of what winning against the big boys actually feels like.
Keelon Russell, the kid out of Duncanville, Texas whose competing for that starting job at Alabama might be the key to them maintaining relevance and their coaching staff remaining employed. In this new college football world, no program can afford to have a season filled with losses that leads to abject obscurity ... and that includes Alabama.
The Cowboys will need something out of Jayden Blue this year if they're going to reach the heights that most are predicting. He was a threat each time he touched the ball at Texas and if he can settle in and get his groove back, the Cowboys will have yet another weapon in their arsenal.
I'm interested to see what John Sumrall does out in Gainesville. It's time for the Gators to be good again and solid coaching by a man who has a vote of confidence from the university and time to get the program turned around.
Looking for LaNorris Sellers to have a huge bounce back year and put the Gamecocks in the running for a strong showing in the crowded SEC.
Looking forward to seeing how Bo Nix and Jaylen Waddle work together out in Denver. Nix needed another quality receiver, and Waddle needed to get out of Miami which means everybody wins.
Keep your eye on Oregon State ... I'm not saying they'll make a run at the national title or anything like that, but I am saying they've got a pretty nice team out west.
I think Mike McDaniel coaching offense and calling plays out west for LAC is one of the sneaky good moves of the offseason.
