COLLEGE
The Whisperer Remembers ... Jarrod Cooper.
The Wildest of Wildcats
Coming out of Pearland High School in Pearland, Texas he was rated as one of the nation’s top defenders. The kid was a thumper and if you came in his vicinity chances are you’d get thumped, so when the time came to pick where he’d spend his next four years thumping, he turned a lot of heads, leaving the Lone Star State and moving to Manhattan … Kansas that is.
The swagger and in your face toughness he brought was just the thing this program needed. The Wildcats were on the rise and with him manning the back end of the defense they rose to the place of something special. He played under the Friday Night Lights and when he put on the purple and white he made the Great Plains of Kansas feel like home.
He’d come up in run support, knock a back’s block off and then drop back into coverage and do the same to a receiver…unless of course he chose to intercept the pass. He was downright nasty and turned that nastiness into a four-year starting position. At the conclusion of each of those four years he was voted all conference…unanimously.
A college football legend who’d fly all over the field, from one sideline to the next and all special teams in between, he was a true joy to watch. They don’t make them like this anymore, so Whisperer Nation stand to your feet and give your best round of applause for former Kansas State Wildcat … Mr. Jarrod Cooper.

One voice. No filler. The names stay off the masthead — the work doesn't need them.
