The Whisperer Remembers ... Terry Kirby.
Lightning Struck Twice
The great Eric Dickerson was a once in a lifetime talent, the likes of which the football world had never before seen. Prior to him, a back standing 6’3, long, lean, and powerful with sprinter speed was unheard of, a dream, or nightmare depending upon which side of the ball you stood on. Dickerson made that dream (and nightmare!) a reality and while sparking the careers of men like this.
Long, lean (6'2!), and powerful with sprinter speed is the best way to describe this young phenom. When the time came to sign his letter of intent, powerhouses from the east, west and all points in between came knocking on his front door, begging him to grace their locker rooms. His answer was swift and decisive, just like his running style, as he chose to stay in his home state of Virginia.
When he arrived in Charlottesville, he took the once beleaguered Cavalier program all the way to the brink of a national title. The Cavs never crossed that threshold, but if you close your eyes, you can still feel the chill this man brought as ripped through ACC defense after ACC defense. Today Whisperer Nation, I ask that you stand to your feet as we recognize the greatness … of former Virginia Cavalier running back supreme … Mr. Terry Kirby.

One voice. No filler. The names stay off the masthead — the work doesn't need them.
