The Whisperer Remembers ... Robin Jones.

Football is a game played by big men, some bigger than others, but all big in one way or another.  Some are big in stature, some are big in heart, some are big in both, but when you find one who's big in stature, heart, and moves like he’s small … that my friend is a find that is truly special. The city of Waco welcomes one such find back in the late 80’s and he set the tone in a way that still resonates to this day.

The defensive line is where he made his living and what a life he lived, wreaking havoc on run games, authoring panic in pass games, causing guards, tackles, and those they swore to protect to second guess their life choices. To call him versatile would be appropriate, but versatile doesn’t begin to truly do his skill set justice. He was whatever you needed him to be whenever you need him to be it and at that moment, whenever he was called upon to deliver, no one on either side of the ball did it better.

The Brazos River changed the day he arrived and it cried tears when he departed because even the land knew they were in the presence of someone truly special. Whisperer Nation, hop to your feet and give your best growl and yell Sic’ Em at the top of your lungs … as we remember the Big Cat … the one and only former Baylor University defensive lineman deluxe … the one and only Robin Jones!
