Top 11 Things
A-Rich, A-Rod, Mateer, Austin Travis, Austin Westlake ... and 6 Other Things.
Anthony Richardson actually looked impressive in last night's preseason game against the Patriots. He wasn't perfect, but by the same token, he doesn't look like a man who has given up on his NFL career. Cheering for the cat.
Hoping John Mateer takes care of his body this year and remembers he's the quarterback, not the running back and fullback too. But then too, it will help if the Sooners can find a playmaker or two to line up behind the kid from Little Elm.
I love seeing all the college kids who may not have been drafted high or drafted at all getting the chance to get on the field and chase their NFL dreams.
DALL signing big Quinnen Williams to a long-term deal is good news for the Cowboys and bad news for everyone else. I'm hearing they could be in the Vita Vea market too ... if that happens ... oh, wow. Can you believe there are 16 DTs making more than him? Yeah, me neither.
I miss those late-night Pac 12 games. Staying up to see Washington-Oregon State or Stanford-Arizona State as both teams lit up the scoreboard used to be the bomb.
I've got my eyes on Vanderbilt to see if they slip back into obscurity and Northwestern to see if they can leverage those large donor infusions and turn them into on the field success.
I got a kick out of seeing Cade Klubnik doing his thing last night. He was a star at Austin Westlake High School and their biggest rival is ... Austin Travis High School, the same school Tampa starter Baker Mayfield starred at. Can't escape those Texas Friday Night Lights.
Speaking of Austin Travis High School, it's time for Garrett Wilson, another Travis alum to have a show up and show out. He's one of the most talented receivers in the game and my hope is that the Jets can find a way to showcase his immense talent.
Come on Matt Rhule get that Big Red thing turned around up there in Lincoln. Saturdays with the Blackshirts doing big things make the college football season all the more fun to be a part of. Pulling for you ... and glad you didn't jump to Penn State.
I think it's about time for Wisconsin to give us a good season ... I do ... I really do. The Badgers were always a play or two away from contending and I think Luke Fickell finally has his imprint on the program. Go Badgers.
It's nice to see Aaron Rodgers smiling on the sidelines. He seems to have embraced his role as a mentor as he heads into the final season of his career.
