The Whisperer Remembers ... Julius Dawkins.

While he was at the University of Pittsburgh quarterback Dan Marino passed for mile after mile, befuddling defenses and coordinators week in and week out…and this man was one of the reasons why. A deep threat of the highest order, he thrilled fans with his pass catching wizardry and drove defensive backs mad with the same impressive array of gifts.

With strong hands and an even stronger will and a body big enough to absorb linebacker hits and bold enough to punish even the most courageous of safeties, he was talent standing head and shoulders above all others, one operating far ahead of his time.  Versatile with the ability to catch in a controlled passing attack or exploit the defenses when the opportunity presented itself, his name and his game both continue ringing out with pride and grit in the Steel City.

He was one of those ones … and the one everyone pointed to when the moment got tight, the game was on the line, and a play needed to be made.
